The Department of General Surgery at Miri Piri Institute of Medical Science & Research delivers comprehensive surgical care, ranging from routine procedures to complex life-saving interventions. Clinical services include laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries, gastrointestinal surgeries, hernia repair, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, thyroid surgeries, breast surgeries, trauma surgeries, and management of soft tissue and skin conditions. The department also performs emergency abdominal surgeries, vascular access procedures, and advanced wound management.
Special emphasis is placed on laparoscopic and minimally invasive techniques, reducing patient recovery time, postoperative pain, and hospital stay. The surgical team works in close collaboration with anaesthesia, critical care, gastroenterology, oncology, and radiology departments, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Round-the-clock surgical support is available for trauma, accidents, perforations, bleeding disorders, and acute surgical emergencies. The department is being structured to provide clinical teaching, surgical training, and research opportunities for medical students and residents.
